I learnt about Computers when I was in School (1997) and fancied a chance to play around with it. I learnt GW BASIC programming language as a start on 80286 machines, slowly upgraded to 80486 and learn C, followed by C++, J2SE, J2EE, Perl, VB, ABAP, XML and the list continues..... I love learning new things and taking up challenges, they always get the best out of me.
I don't like copying other expert's suggestions, but I might post a link to the actual post that helped me help you. There are lots of times, when the solution is out on the internet and a simple Google search will reveal it. At such times, I will not copy the text from somewhere else and just paste in my post. I will simply quote the link and expect you to try the suggestions on the specified webpage. There are 2 types of experts in this world (totally my thinking) - one who has the solution of a problem already and the other expert is one who can search and find solutions even if initially unaware. I call the first one 'knowledgeable' and the latter one 'smart'.
We (the experts) don't get paid to work on EE and it would be nice to say thanks if I helped you at all instead of just accepting an answer (whether its mine or someone else's). Each expert who tries to help (whether accurate or not) deserves a thanks atleast.
My first experience with viruses was in 1999, when I had just shut down Outlook Express after checking email and it started again and was attempting to check some other random account, that was my first experience with computer viruses and normally I find viruses everywhere I visit. Sometimes, I feel that maybe I should start a Computer Security Consultancy.
I have an on-off relationship with Experts Exchange website, I joined in 2003, but haven't spent much time on it. I am usually active on Experts-Exchange only when I am not working or made redundant except for some weekends of course :-)
Due to the various nature of the jobs I've done such as IT Support, Development, System Administration and Consulting, I feel that I can provide a lot of different skills to help those in need. I also learn new things very fast and always try to build on top of my existing knowledgebase as well, so even if I might not know the answer of a question in the beginning, I will work hard and solve the problem in the end. As you can see from my profile page, I've answered questions in a lot of different categories and that is all thanks to my skills and experiences in different roles which have made me understand how things function.
Most of the virus and spyware problems can be resolved by a combination of different scanners like - MalwareBytes, SuperAntiSpyware, ComboFix, Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool, SmitFraudFix, etc. This is what I always suggest before anything manual is done. I rarely suggest registry changes because registry is a sensitive area and the tools above are more than enough for infected PC's.
