Personal Description

I was in the army for 6 years during which I went to college.  However upon getting out, I realized I wanted to work with computers and chose programming.  Oh yeah, and I basically had to start all over.

In the summer of 2006, after another four years of college I finally received my BS in Engineering and Computing in the summer of 2006.

My first computer programming course ever was in my second year of my studies after the army where we were taught C++.  Then I moved to OOP with Java including strong background with both GUI's, learned JSP/Servlets, VB (MDI desktop Apps), Perl, VBSCRIPT, HTML, DHTML, XHTML, CSS, some PHP, and a very tiny amount of ColdFusion before going back and learning OOP C++.  I currently work with ASPNET preferring C# (though currently my position I use VBNET), XML, XSLT and Javascript/Ajax.   Recently learned JQuery, learning linq and getting deep with CSS3.

Environments I work well in are JCreator, NetBeans, VS6/2005/2008, Dreamweaver, MySql, MSSQL Manager, Crystal Reports, Fireworks, Photoshop, Illustrator...I'm know some Flash, but still consider myself a novice with this technology.

Those are my credentials, but I'm not a term geek...meaning I usually speak in regular  english...i.e.  a computer is a computer...not a box...networking cable it is, but not patch wire or RJ45 (I would rather call it that cable that looks like a telephone cable but plugs into computers).  I once instructed students and I found others learned easier that way.  I do not feel a need to try to sound like a rocket scientist just for the sake of doing so and have a pet peeve for people who do so...I'm really into sharing knowledge without being condescending which doesn't seem to be a trait in the technical field, at least not many of the people and professors I've personally met.

I'm at an intermediate level with MySql and MSSQL, knowing how to design and build relational databases, normalize, and work with functions, stored procedures and triggers,  though if I have someone else to create stored procedures and queries, by all means I will pass it to them.

Also, I have basic trouble-shooting knowledge and  PC fundamentals at my grasp to include laptops, network administration and physical setups, IIS Administration, Tomcat Admin, among other things.

I answered my very first questions recently in March 2008.
