===About the Name "prairiedog"===
According to WikiPedia, The prairie dogs (Cynomys) are small, burrowing rodents native to the grasslands of North America. There are five different species of prairie dogs: black-tailed, white-tailed, Gunnison, Utah, and Mexican prairie dogs. Prairie dogs are named for their habitat and warning call, which sounds similar to a dog's bark.

It didn't take me long to notice this cute animal after I arrived in a small town in US in 1999 from a country far far away. There is a piece of land with a triangular shape due to the intersection of three roads. The first time when I stopped at the intersection for the traffic lights, I saw some small animals standing on their hind feet that look kinda like the field mice. After asked what they are, I was told they are the black-tailed prairie dogs, one of the protected animals here. It was the first time in my whole life to see a prairie dog. Ever since, I always try to stop for a while watching those cute animals. Though surrounded by heavy traffic with all kinds of cars passing by, they don't seem to be bothered at all and seem to be very relaxed. At sunset, many of them will come out of their tunnels standing there with a long shadow behind each of them, it is JUST a beautiful scene.
