Some things to keep in mind:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To askers:
1. Follow the rules!
https://www.experts-exchange.com/help.jsp#hs29
I mean really...read through the EE help and **understand** the purpose of Experts Exchange.
*Especially* the link above on asking questions!
2. Be nice!
If you are on this site looking for advice; listen to the advice when it is given!
My goal is to help you fine-tune your code ,or debug your code, or lead you in the right direction (and learn stuff myself along the way)...not write all your code for you.
"Give a man a chunk of code; you have helped him for today. Teach a man to code; and you have helped him for a career"
(okay, the original quote had something to do with fish...but who really wants to eat fish for a lifetime?)
Sometimes my advice will take you down a completely different path; that's because I've "been there done that" and know that you will have problems in the long run.  I will always try to explain my reasoning.
If you choose not to listen or are rude about it; don't expect to see me ever help you again.
I have a very low tolerance for this.
Experts helping you with questions do not get paid by EE and we are not independently wealthy (at least I'm sure as heck not).
(I'm in it for the free t-shirts.)
So not only am I not getting paid to help you, if I have to deal with rudeness...that's just adding insult to injury.
To Experts:
1. Don't just post links.
I've seen questions where experts I call "Google Masters" simply find as many links as possible and post them to the question as fast as possible.  Not cool!
Take the time to put a little explanation on why you think the link will help a user.  Don't you think we all know how to Google?
Chances are, they found the same links you have, but still don't understand it.  Explain it to them.  Don't post a link to a 15 page tutorial without any comments.
I post links all the time...but I try to make sure it somehow fits with the question beyond one keyword!
2. Don't plagiarize.
If you post a code snippet that you got off of some other site or MSDN, post the link to it also.
I've seen too many posts where I recognize the snippet and the experts talks about it like it's their code.
Race City, USA yeeeeeehaaah!!!!
...No joke; "Race City, USA" is painted on the water tower and part of the sign as you enter the town.
(Yes, that is a sarcastic "yeeeeeehaaah")
