I am a Computer Programmer/Systems Analyst with 20+ years in the computer industry. Currently working on realtime control and plant display systems.
I write in 20+ computer programming languages (although most of them are not used much anymore) and am an old school programmer prefering to write the code to draw the screen rather then draw the screen to write the code. Not that i won't use visual tools but with a little extra work the dead wood can be removed and a much faster, leaner, more fun to use rather then hurry up and wait computing experience is created.

Because of a long time ago accident I am not very active physically and live vicariously through my computers.

Favorite software? Software is a tool, my fav at any one time is the right tool for that job. If that is a Operating system that lets me continue to use older hardware or a New OS that gives me access to new features. Is it the web browser for web surfing or a FORTRAN compiler that makes working with multi-core CPUs easier? As soon as you have a favorite your limit your choices and rein in your effectiveness to give your users the best computing experience.
