26 years ago, I graduated  with 2:1 honours in pure and applied mathemtics and went on to do a post graduate in real-time computing (engineering programning) - way before PCs existed.  I spent 3 years  in radar and real-time defense software design before moving to Reuters in London where I stayed for 20 years. There I took part in design and programming  real-time computers for the financial sector developing bespoke networked systems  in the late 80's to delivering real time updates over the internet in the 90's and 00's.
I now run a website development  and PC support company in Buckinghamshire. and help run our equestrian centre (www.deepmill.com)
I've worked on micros using bespoke real-time multi-tasking operating systems, to DOS to windows to OS/2 to windows NT to XP to VISTA.
I've programmed in ASM86, RTL/2, C, C++, javascript, ASP - I now try to 'buy not build'
