Music major, did a lot of COBOL and DCOM, started my own biz and then got my A+ and then my ACDT. To keep up my music I've become jack-of-all-trades. With my own business, in 7 years I have learned a lot about hardware and I love it! I repair local PCs and Macs.
Although I was a DCOM programmer of distributed systems, I learned much more about networking by working in the field. Had to really cram to learn what I needed to know! I troubleshoot a lot of networks and especially help those befuddled by their wireless networks.
On the server front, there hasn't been much work, but managed to deploy a PowerEdge server which was great fun. Oh, yeah, helped out with someone's Internet Cafe and learned about 'gaming' servers.
There really doesn't seem to be much money in web work but I will do that also on an occasional basis.
Love EE - it has saved me innumerable hours while I struggle to make my clients happy with their diverse needs.
