I have been a programmer and system analyst since the late 60's.  The first computer I did programming on was the IBM 1620, the last commercial computer to use discrete transistors in its logic circuits.  I remember staying up all night with the thing (it filled a 20' X 30' room) watching an ADAPT program run to get a computer round off error just as the sun was coming up - this happened often.  Languages I have programmed in: APT (the most complicated programming language ever invented - it had a two volume dictionary and a ten volume encyclopedia to explain the functions and statements.), ADAPT (a 3 dimension subset of APT - APT could program in up to 12 dimensions), Fortran, Colbol (Thank God it's gone!), Basic, APL (The best language ever written - a complete application could be written in one, usually incomprehensible line), Pascal, C/C++, VB, VBA, Html/SHtml, Java, XML, ASP, various assembly and machine languages (if you don't like the language you are currently using, try programming in native machine language).  I am working strictly in Access VBA now (don't ask me why - I don't know).  I have been designing a medical management software using Access.  I plan to release it for sale RSN.
