More bioWritten a C compiler at DEC a long time ago, and know code generation issues inside out for C, C++, Java
I particularly enjoy optimization of inefficient code.
I am currently a programmer on staff at Stevens Institute of Technology in the Oceanography department, pursuing a PhD in Oceanography.
I am in charge of the department's computers, though thankfully I have people to actually fix windows, de-virus machines, and help with ou cluster system admin.
My real focus at the moment is computational fluid dynamics and visualization of data; though my math background is a little weak for it, I'm working hard at that.
I've been collecting high-quality numerical methods, implementing them in C++ and Java so I really learn them.
Our forecast website implementation has quite a few wild bits of javascript for those of you interested in such things: http://hudson.dl.stevens-tech.edu/NYHOPS/maincontrol.shtml
I also take leave of absence once a year to run the trainee program for a very large brokerage firm in New York, a long-term client of mine.
My company is Right TRAK: http://www.righttrak.com
I do consult on occasion. Particularly if you need training for a week or two, we have high-quality materials, and instructors who really understand the underlying technology.
If you're interested in working in the New York/New Jersey area, feel free to contact me. I may not be able to help right away, but it's always nice to know competent programmers and/or instructors in my area. 201-216-5300, or submit email at the hudson url (the first one).
