Owner of small computer service, repair & consulting company servicing home & small-to-medium business customers in central Illinois. IT experience dates back to late 70's (DEC servers), PC's with CP/M, through the ages to the present day. Certs include A+ and MCSE (W2K). Worked with several large IT organizations, including one Network Admin 3-yr stint at a Nuclear Power Plant (17 Servers, 1300+ workstations), before starting own business in 2003.
Current lab setup includes 7 custom machines in a peer-to-peer Gb LAN workgroup. Installed working OS's are XP Pro, Win2K, Vista. Also have 1 Linux machine, 1 Mac and 1 multi-boot stand-alone test machine with Server 2003, Longhorn beta, MS Home Server Beta, WinXP Pro and Vista Business. eMail and website are externally hosted. Backups use a mix of Acronis, DriveImage XL, and Ghost to backup hard drives, some internal, some NAS and some USB. Test bench machines have removable PATA and SATA drive trays for testing customer's HDD's (with adapters for 2.5" drives). Cable modem, router, switches and all primary machines are on UPS w/ AVR. Machines are divided into 2 groups with 4 and 8-port KVM (with Audio). Using a mix of AV, AS & Firewall software in addition to NAT provided by the router.
