My first website was online in 1997, and was an ugly mess of HTML 3, animated GIF images, multiple frames, and even background music that could not be turned off. I've learned to keep things simple since then, so today my pages are created using XHTML and CSS, with a little help from XSLT.

I started web development with PHP and MySQL in 1999, and have found uses for it many times since.

For a while in 2000 I was hired to create wildly complex DHTML pages using Javascript, but was so disgusted by its failings as a language that I swore never to use Javascript again.

Picked up some Java at university, and I've since passed the Sun Certified Java Programmer 1.4 exam.

My development platform is Ubuntu Linux, but I do grudgingly return to Windows XP for gaming.
