Latest news: I am the author of "Visio 2010 Step by Step" from Microsoft Press http://www.Visio2010StepBy
I've been using Visio daily for more than eight years, starting when the small consulting firm for which I work developed a process mapping add-in for Visio (see below). I continue to be fascinated by the enormous power and sophistication of Visio -- and by the sheer fun of getting it to do useful and interesting things.
I have worked extensively with Visio as a user -- constructing diagrams using stock stencils and the normal user interface -- but I have also done a considerable amount behind the scenes: modifying shapesheets to change shape behavior, designing shapes, and programming in VBA.
In 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, Microsoft recognized my Visio expertise by naming me a Visio MVP -- one of approximately a dozen in the world: http://mvp.support.microso
I also have a heavy background in data communications, networking and Internet technologies, including teaching university seminars on those subjects. I have considerable user experience with all flavors of Windows though no formal training on any of the versions. I dabble in VBScript when required.
I am the co-inventor and lead architect of TaskMap (http://www.taskmap.com) -- process mapping software for the rest of us!

Hobbies
My recreation time generally revolves around either cycling or theater. I ride 1500-2000 miles per year, often including one major fund raiser, typically 100 miles or so. I'm involved with several community theater groups, which puts me on stage or backstage several times per year...musical theater primarily, occasionally a regular play, a bit of barbershop quartet singing too.
