After an early childhood interest in computers, I took them up seriously in 91. I worked for a state body as a helpdesk technician for eight years. I also worked on the network security and administration side of things, deploying servers, planning etc. Have had brushes with Novell Netware, Windows (Various), Linux and UNIX.
I'm now using my experience to provide support for end users and small businesses. I enjoy a challenge/problem, and hate to let them beat me. Currently I'm looking at linux and open source, mainly GPL software. The flexibility, availability and stability of many of the open source/GPL software appeals to me. It's nice to be able to just download the latest version of OpenOffice for example, when it comes out. No messing with expensive licenses, or product verification codes. Sure, 'Free' software is not perfect, but neither are the opposition.
