I currently work for NOAA as the Chief Electronics tech of this ship:
http://www.opb.org/programs/ofg/videos/view/268-Multi-Beam-SonarI have been on various NOAA ships that have DNA labs on board, Fisheries research, and now multibeam. We have discovered over 100 new species of marine life, preserve endangered marine species, help monitor the health of fisheries, pick up marine debris, see exotic atolls that few people in the world have ever seen, and map the ocean floor.
Pretty cool, huh? Well there is more to NOAA then just Marine operations. There is the National Weather Service too. See for yourself.
http://www.noaa.gov/As Chief ET, I fix radars, radios, UPS's, administer a domain, fix the entertainment systems, perform telephony on the ship and collect Scientific data for all of the above cool things.
I am a busy, but have enjoyed working with you folks at EE. It's nice to see people sincere in helping each other out.
Prior to working with NOAA, I was an Radio Electronics tech in the Marine Corps, a High Speed Data tech for QWest, A High Speed data tech for Southwester Bell Corp, a network engineer with mastech, and a free lance computer tech.
I was going to school to be a biochemical engineer, but I like this better.
