After getting my first PC when I was 10 years old, I had a keen interest on taking things apart and figuring out how they work (or breaking them!).
One of the things that really interested me was the Internet, and the way everybody had access to a source of information wherever they were in the world. I went on to look at C++ development at the age of 14, which I liked, but realized it was not the way I wanted to go, after my interest in web design and development was boosted when starting to learn PHP 3. One of the first things to boost my confidence with PHP was modifying and creating add-ons for vBulletin.
After various PHP-related projects, by 2005 I had an interest in server management and configuration, but this was purely on Windows-based servers. Also, by this time, I started taking standards more seriously, paying special attention to CSS and XHTML compliancy. It was also at this point where my database design skills were formed, understanding normalization and best practice.
Then, in the same year, I started my degree in Computer Information Systems, which was hard work, although I don't think it particularly paid off, but I'm positive that it got me to where I am now.
Currently, I work as a technical developer, working on a variety of exciting projects such as IPTV and digital signage systems. In the past six months, I have also familiarized myself with Linux server setup and management, as well as furthering my web development experience with the use of Python and Django.
