Personal Description
I am a closet geek. I have owned and worked on PC's as a hobby since 1985 but hated anything to do with programming. I don't care too much about the intricate scientific details of why something occurs. I like that the fact that I know what to do when it doesn't happen like it's supposed to. I love the practicality of resolving a problem when everyone else gives up. Computer professors bore me to tears. I remember my advanced electronics teacher spitting as he lectured.
I am a public speaker and enjoy the interaction with people while resolving their problems--I love to educate as much as resolve. I am told that I am able to diagnose and explain problems to end-users in a way they understand. I have less patience for people who choose to remain ignorant or can't follow simple/routine instructions. I am also tenacious when it comes to finding a solution. Typically I will not stop, no matter the cost, until I resolve the problem (to my demise). I never charge for my years of experience and resoluteness, and that's why I have a difficult time paying for others often lesser skills. That means technical support centers are the worst form of torture for me. I could write a book on the number of times a "trained technician" told me something could not work the way I wanted it and then later discovered the resolution on my own.
Typically my machines and operating systems are high end yet 2 years behind the times (saves me money). Outside of browsing and learning about latest technology, I am an insatiable basketball, tennis, and table tennis player. I love to downhill ski and hate cross-country or running for the sake running itself.
My vocations include, pastoral counseling, public speaking, and organizational development.
