foxpro is not free software and never will be. it is sold by microsoft.

i realize that DOS was more stable than Win9x and WinNT, but trust me, you do not want to start learning fox in DOS. you will find very little support out there. it's old, and there is generally a better way in the current versions of fox to do everything anyway.
now, i have also never found a good 'tutorial' and believe me, i looked hard when i started 3 years ago w/ fox. but if you do end up using fox, buy version 5 or 6, and install the samples. the 'TasTrade' samples are wonderful for a new fox programmer. 'TasTrade' is basically an inventory application that you can look at the code to learn.
