|Its certainly possible to retrieve a username from the AD using directory services in .net or adsi in a scripting language. The password attribute however is not accessible as a read. If the account you use to interrogate the AD has the appropriate permissions that you may change the password attribute
This inability to read a users password is, quite rightly a security mandate and cannot be changed
If you want some code posted to read user details let me know in what (.net, vbscript or whatever and I will post some examples to you)
