vfp9: Message box opening behind form

Two forms, both open top-level, Form 'A' as "AlwaysOnBottom = .T.", Form 'B' as "AlwaysOnTop = .T."; a code snippet (.prg), call by a menu selection, requests a MessageBox, which opens between 'A' and 'B' and cannot be seen by the user.  Is it possible to force a MessageBox to open in front of all open forms?

Probably not. The Help documentation only says "Displays a user-defined dialog box." No information about how that relates to other forms in zorder.

A long time ago I gave up on MessageBox for various reasons and wrote my own as a form. I recommend you do the same. Then you have more control over the position.

yes, I was hoping to avoid writing my own "messagebox" form because the code snippet branches depending upon the return of the messagebox.

I've also tried using  _MSGBOX but that doesn't appear to support the necessary properties either.

That's no problem
1 - make the form modal (set WindowType = 1)
2 - in the unload event return the desired value.
3 - invoke as follows:

do form myMsgBox to retval
... program pauses until user does an action to the form
do case
  case retval = 1
....
endcase
