Is there any way to programatically auto expand a combo box in Visual Foxpro?
In another words, show the list portion of the combo box when certain even occurs like the combo control gets focus. I've tried the downlclick event or dropdown even but nothing happened.

If it is impossible with ComboBox do it with ListBox.
If you set the ListBox height to one line only, it looks like ComboBox. So the possible scenario is:
1) Place the ListBox on your form and set its height to one line (either in Init method or even in design mode)
2) Change the ListBox height in the MouseDown event to its full size (THIS.Height = <Full size>)
3) Change the ListBox height back to one line after the item selection:
THIS.Height = THIS.FontSize*2+3
THIS.TopIndex = THIS.ListIndex && This makes the selected element visible
(it should be done in Valid and LostFocus methods)
This is just an idea which works. Some fine tuning will be necessary. You may change the list box size programaticaly whenewer you want :-)
You can expand a combobox by the F4 key, and programmatically you can use the KEYBOARD command.
But if your intention was not only to expand the list portion, but to navigate to a row matching input, you'd only have one part solved and it's much easier to use the built in incremental search. Also see _INCSEEK system variable for a userfriendlier timout, I'd set this higher.

You can use the Event Tracking in Debugger to help trace what happens when you expand the combo box manually.
1. Turn on Output Window. From Debugger click Window | Output
2. Turn on Event Tracking. From Debugger click tools | Event Tracking
3. For easier readability of what you are looking for remove the following from the events to track:
a. Activate
b. Deactivate
c. MouseMove
d. Paint
With that being said I have tried to replicate the events tracked when I expand the combo box with no results. Maybe you will have better luck :)
