Foxpro 2.6 not working on XP, hour glass starts and goes away

I have a small office network with an SBS2003 server. A foxpro databse resides on a server share. All of the XP SP3 pc's in the office access and run a Foxpro 2.6 database and this database works just fine on all of the XP pc's except one. On this pc, when we attempt to launch the application, the hour glass appears and then goes away and the application never appears. IN task manager a NTVDM shows up and stays there but again, the app never runs.  Foxpro has worked on this pc in the past but just stopped working.

Any suggestions?

Check whether FILES=200 or BUFFERS=30,0 are still in the Config.sys, Right Click on My Computer/Properties/Advanced/Environment Variables.

Is the exe on the workstation or the server? Is it a one exe or app application or does it call the other.

Are there DBFs on that workstation? If yes then reindex them.

If there is an anti-virus or firewall, try disabling them temporarily.

Also delete any foxuser.dbf and foxuser.fpt files on the system. They will be recreated.

The file setting in config.nt was files=40; I had already changed it to files =100
I could not find a config.sys file or entry
I deleted the foxuser.dbf file but the app still will not run.
There are no other databases on the pc

Windows XP does not read config.nt.

The settings are saved in Environment Variables section.

To access them you right click on My Computer and then click on Advanced and then Environment Variables.
