Question

Can labels/text fields be both left and right justified in VFP 9.0 Reports

Asked by: MichaelKatz

I have to duplicate a form that has a column of instructions in it.

I would like to have it look like a newspaper column; ie. justified at both ends.

Any suggestions ?

Use a WebBrowser Control and show an HTML content in it.

by: pcelbaPosted on 2009-10-14 at 12:40:49ID: 25574280

Does it work in reports, Captain? The only way I know is space insertion based on TXTWIDTH().

by: CaptainCyrilPosted on 2009-10-14 at 14:10:35ID: 25575322

I always use WebBrowser Control because I can use many fonts, color and styles.

by: MichaelKatzPosted on 2009-10-14 at 14:39:57ID: 25575541

Thanks Captain,

I have to figure out how to get the control on the report , etc etc.

I'll be back soon . . . .     I hope.

by: CaptainCyrilPosted on 2009-10-14 at 14:43:04ID: 25575560

Well I do it in forms and not reports. My reports are all based on HTML. You can print the HTML. If you need some help in that I will add more stuff.

by: MichaelKatzPosted on 2009-10-14 at 14:52:25ID: 25575620

I could use some help.

Anything to get me started will be ok.

by: CaptainCyrilPosted on 2009-10-14 at 15:30:11ID: 25575851

First of all you need Microsoft WebBrowser Control.

You put that on  form and not in report.

MODIFY FORM MyReport.

You create the HTML file you need dynamically.

You direct the browser there.

Thisform.webbrowser.Navigate("c:\path\myhtmlfile.htm")

by: CaptainCyrilPosted on 2009-10-14 at 22:17:15ID: 25577433

In some of my reports I use multi-columns or boxes for summaries. The user chooses how many columns he wishes. It's so easy in HTML to do <td>Summary<td>. You can color them, highlight search words, apply schemes, backgrounds and the good thing is that the second row starts right after the longest column. HTML worries about that and not you.

by: MichaelKatzPosted on 2009-10-15 at 02:08:54ID: 25578649

I don't know if this makes a difference, but the report I am generating needs to be printed.

I saw an article using GDIPlus X, but at this point it is a bit beyond me.

Can I still use the web browser control.  How do I get the info on the report.?

Michael

You put the info in an HTML file and you can print that HTML file. Do you know how to create an HTML file programatically?

In order to print

DO WebBrowserPrint WITH Thisform.WebBrowser

You add the following to the SET PROCEDURE listing so you can find the function.

Thanks Captain,

I have attached a pdf file with a rectangle highlighting what I am trying to achieve.

Does an HTML file allow for full justification?

I hope I am not getting in over my head.

How do I justify text on both sides on Web pages?

Hmm, it seems HTML could be an option but I would'n leave GDIPlusX untouched. Your problem is solved and source code included (http://weblogs.foxite.com/vfpimaging/archive/2007/04/05/3641.aspx).

You could start on screen texts full justification which is a bit easier: http://weblogs.foxite.com/vfpimaging/archive/2007/03/30/3580.aspx
