Is this a reasonable approach?
I am getting ready to put my new application to work. It will be accessed by 5 workstations
probabaly never at exactly the same time. My thought was to take one of them and turn the drive into a shared drive.On that shared drive I will put all the tables. Main tables Autocomplete tables etc. Call it drive Z for example. I will load copies of all the forms etc onto all the other computers and set up all the calls to tables to drive Z. Z:\tableplace\atable.dbf.
Does this make sense?

You do not need to load all the forms. Create an executable and copy that executable on all the computers. You will also have to copy the runtime files. The runtime files are found at http://ftp.prolib.de/Publi

Agreed. Even with small workgroups of 5 I'd suggest using a real central server. It's not a good setup to let one client act as a server. There's the rather cheap Windows Home Server, that would fit your needs in that respect. You can alternatively use a Linux machine with a Samba installation as a fileserver.
And in regard to all frontend forms etc, create an exe. It's simple, just click the BUILD button in the project manager and choose to compile an EXE.

Yes, it makes sense. Shared data at one (configurable) place and application at local workstations is a standard. You should also install/place VFP run-time libraries on all workstations. Eventually you could think if autocomplete tables and e.g. FOXUSER table are user/workstation dependent and change their handling based on such requirements (but it would mean application change).
