The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

CRM 4.0 Plugin Error - Unable to load plug-in assembly

Tags: Microsoft, CRM, 4.0, Plugin
Hi

After doing much work on CRM 3.0, I'm currently teaching myself the new features in CRM 4.0.
I've worked my way through this tutorial: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb955365.aspx
The only difference is that I'm coding in VB.NET instead of C#.

All was going fine. I created the assembly, added references, coded it, signed it, built it and then registered it. The problem came when I went to test the plugin. When I create an account and click "save and close", I get the error "Unable to load plug-in assembly".

I can find no further details on this error. There's nothing in the event log.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thank you for your help

Chris

When you registered the plug-in did you register it as a disk based plug-in or as a database plugin ? And what step registration did you put it on ? Account Post Create ?

I was using disk based so it seems I was moving away from the tutorial! Sorry.

However, now I'm getting a 401 when I fire the plugin.

Disk based is fine however you should build it to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics CRM\Server\bin\assembly or the equivalent location or alternatively you can use the Database version and then just put the PDB debug files in the same directory, if you then attach your Visual Studio debugger to the w3wp process you will be able to debug your plugin, your error is usually caused by one of 2 things, either a disk based dll in the wrong location or an error in your code. Have you downloaded the latest SDK as the plugin code in the earlier Sdk was not 100% correct.

I have no idea why, but an overnight reboot has solved the permissions problems I was having last night. Good news that it's now working but I hate not knowing why it was failing in the first place!! Just waiting for the errors to return!!

Thanks again for your help.

Chris
