So this was JUST after the license?

Tell us a little about the install?

CRM and SQL same domain, and install user is same domain?  Is Install User a Domain Admin, if not what rights?
Tell us about the Servers - OS, RAM, etc.

Was this upgrade or new install?

A few more lines of the log would help as well.

the OS is 64bit Windows 2008 Server. This is an "experemental" setup - but if it works ok then we will keep it like that, -
Ram = 4GB - Sever = Dell Poweredge 2900 Xeon Quad.
CRM and SQl are on the same machine - SQL data files are on D:/ drive.
The permissions used are the Domain Admin / Local Admin Account.
The machine is a new build - especially to run crm - AD is on another server - so there is no problem with the old, CRM not running on a DC.
reporting services are installed , as are all the hotfixes necessary to run on the 64bit - including the MSXML 4.0 that we did have some problems.
I can send you the log file in the next post.

Cheers

Did you manually reinstall the MSXML 4.0 Hotfix - this error appears in your first install attempt but not afterwards (if you didn't perhaps yu shoudl try reapplying that patch?)

17:23:12|   Info| Installing MSXML 4.0 Hotfix
17:23:12|   Info| Log file: C:\Windows\msxml4sp2-kb887606-x86-enu.log
17:23:14|   Info| Installation of MSXML 4.0 Hotfix failed. Exit code: 1603. Result: Fatal error during installation.

Not researched this - it just looked odd ;)

Sorry - for some reason I waited til after I posted that to read you full message - you suggest you did indeed install the MSXML hotfix.

To my knowledge, CRM 3.0 is not supported on 64 bit OS.  Did something you read indicate that it was supported on 64 bit (perhaps on 2008)?

by: chrismatrixPosted on 2008-08-15 at 08:02:18ID: 22238774

i did do a check - or rather had one of my guys to check - who looked into possible conflicts on a 64bit system - and didnt find any. I did have some idea that there may be , but we did not find anything to say it wasnt. I do know that CRM 4 IS compatable but even Microsofts compatability site didn't seem to list version 3.00 . What a surprise there then - eh?!

So - before i turn homicidal and/or pull the rest of my hair out with this god-forsaken program - does anyone know for sure if there is a definate incompatability?

oh dear - i thought it might just be limited to the 64 bit version of 2008!
I suppose the next question in this thread is - does it support the 2003 64 bit version?

We Did Actually Find From Another Blog That 64Bit O/S Is Not Supported And No Mention Of Support, We Found From Our Research That The SQL Server Can Run 64Bit But The Web interface can't.
Thanks for The Help
