Question

Customize Dynamics CRM 4.0 Member Type

Asked by: golferski

In Dynamics CRM 4.0 there are three types of members: Account, Contact, and Lead.

Somehow, somewhere, this was changed in our system to say "CGS Partner Lead." This was only supposed to be a lead source not renamed as the title for all leads. So now when I want to specifiy a member type for makerting lists or when I add new leads it says "CGS Partner Lead" instead of "Lead."

I have looked through all customization areas with the CRM interface and can not find anywhere to change it back. It might need to be changed in SQL, but I am not sure what table it would be in.

How can I change this back to "Lead?"

Depending on how fully the Lead entity was changed in the first place you'll need to do the following:

1. Change the entity name and plural name - Go to Settings > Customization > CGS Partner Lead > Information
2. Rename any views - Go to Settings > Customization > CGS Partner Lead > Forms and Views
3. Rename any labels on the forms - Go to Settings > Customization > CGS Partner Lead > Forms and Views
4. Change system messages - Go to Settings > Customization > CGS Partner Lead > Messages
5. Change labels in reports - Depending on your setup either in CRM Reports or SQL Reports
6. Change the online help.

I've attached a picture of my problem.

1. Change the entity name and plural name - Go to Settings > Customization > CGS Partner Lead > Information

  • These say "Lead and Leads"

2. Rename any views - Go to Settings > Customization > CGS Partner Lead > Forms and Views
  • All the views are at the defaults and there doesn't seem to be anything to change.

3. Rename any labels on the forms - Go to Settings > Customization > CGS Partner Lead > Forms and Views
  • This is where it gets confusing when I go to Forms and Views for Lead and open the main Lead form. At the Top of the Form as the Form Title/Header it says CGS Partner Lead. There is no way to edit it.

4. Change system messages - Go to Settings > Customization > CGS Partner Lead > Messages
  • All these are the defaults

5. Change labels in reports - Depending on your setup either in CRM Reports or SQL Reports
6. Change the online help.

have u checked if somebody has done unsupported customization with CRMServer Aspx page like /sfa/leads/edit.aspx? or u could check with exporting the whole customization or just the lead along and find for that text, may be its hardcoded somewhere in the page or part of xml i guess.

I figured it out. Someone had changed the main Lead form to CGS Partner Lead and I changed it back. What I forgot to do was to hit publish.
