Thanks guys,
Actually this is a problem with a large charity email communication system. I was wondering if there is a older version of publisher but more recent than the 98 version that could solve this problem. This would allow the membership to purchase copies of publisher at a reduced cost. I hope this isn't another new microsoft policy that eliminates the ability of older applications to open documents made with the newer application versions. In the past we could do so with the limitation that the newer application functions would not be available when opened with an older version. Are we screwed again?

Drag the file to a notepad. Enable word wrap from notepad / format
In the first 20 lineas there will be simbols, but the version used of publisher is there, for example, for Publisher 2007:
"F Microsoft Publisher 3.0 MSPublisher.3 ô9²q "
For Publisher 98 is MSPublisher.1, for Publisher XP maybe is MSPublisher.2
