Converting MS Publisher files to excel or access files

I have a customer that has about 2500 customers in separate publisher files. Is there any way to convert the customer data to an excel file or a MS Access database.

I am helping them set up MS Accounting PRO 2009 and I could import an excel file with the customer data.

Any ideas rather than entering each customer into the accounting program would be appreciated.
