Hi,
I have multiple PC's in my network with Internet Explorer v8.0 and visio viewer 2003 installed. When you double click on a Visio document it tries to open them in IE. The following message is displayed
"To Help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options" from which you can right click and select "allow blocked content"
Instead of the Visio file opening you are displayed with a red X in the top left corner of the window. I have looked at lowering all settings for Trusted Zones/Intranet Zones but to no avail. I have also double checked that the *.vsd file extension is recognised as a Visio file in 'Folder Options' and is set to open with Internet Explorer.
With the full Version of Visio installed files open correctly. Help Please!!!!

Hello,
I have changed all security settings under the Active X heading in the Internet Zone to enable. From this Local Intranet appears to have inherited the settings. Is this what you mean?
Still no joy on the opening Visio files with IE, it is now prompting me "Your Current security settings put your computer at risk. Click here to Change your Security Settings..."

I had the same problem while attempting to load visio files after the latest round of windows updates. The solution that I found was to uninstall the update "Cumulative Security Update for ActiveX Killbits for Windows 'Your Version of Windows Here' (KB973525)"

Once uninstalled, try running visio viewer again. If that does not work, uninstall and then reinstall the viewer and it should work.

Hi,
Goto Internet Option in IE
Select Security Tab --> Select Internet -> Custom settiing --> Enable all the ActiveX in the option
Select Local Intranet -> Custom settiing --> Enable all the ActiveX in the option
It will work since i faced the same issue before and fixed by this option.
