Question

Outlook 2003 auto send/receive will not work

Asked by: wallylord

Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager run on XP Pro, updates current to 29 Aug 07:
Auto Send Receive does not run as specified in dialog nor at startup. The problem began for no known reason.

Fixes I have tried: (1) I have reinstalled Office 2003, (2) I have change the profile, (3) I have disabled add on functions. All functions work in outlook except this. I maintain several computers with Outlook and am familiar with the program for several years. I manage .pst files actively, keeping them under 2 gigs by archiving to various other pst files (the current personal file folders versions.)

What do you recommend at this point?

Greetings wallylord !

With Outlook open, go to Tools > Options > Mail Setup.  Check "Send immediately when connected".

If no joy, click on the Send/Receive button on Mail Setup General tab. Make sure both options "Include this group in Send/Receive" are checked.  Make sure that your account is included in the Group to send.

Best wishes, war1

Good old war1. Nice to hear from you again.

1. I have already set up a new group with all accounts, to no avail. All options are marked correctly with send/receive set at 2 minutes for all accounts and 13 minutes offline.

I have fussed with this problem a lot over the past 4 weeks. We can go ahead and run through the basic checks, of course, but hopefully we can fix this without changing my profile again or reinstalling again.

Good morning.
When clicking the options arrow to the right of the Send/Receive button, then clicking on Send/Receive settings, I found a "Disable Scedhuled Send Receive" option checked! I never noticed that option before, and who knows how it got checked. Must have done it myself somehow.

I have unchecked it, and now the progam is working. Holy cow!

That option seems to be only in that little menu.

Problem solved. How do I assign points for this? I put 500 on it and considered it a difficult problem. Like amny, it was idscustingly simple, but hidden a little.  I had been in that menu before but did not recognize the significance of that option. Please advise. I guess you deserve all 500 points because you took me again into the menu.

Thanks. Wally Lord
