Outlook Chooses Wrong Address When Replying to Mail

Asked by LONBUSS in Microsoft Applications, Email Clients, Outlook Groupware Software

Tags: microsoft, outlook, 2003

when i reply to a mail, it does not use the address used to send that mail to me, but rather looks up the name in my contacts (or directory), and uses that address for the reply. The mail address in my contacts/directory is out of date, so the mail i sent went to an unused mailbox. This seems crazy to me; i must have this wrong? Obviously i can update my contacts, but shouldn't outlook (2003) use the email address that came with the mail for the reply?

It would be nice if i set my contacts as the first lookup option, and outlook prompted me if the incoming address was different from that in my contacts for that person's name.Start Free Trial
