Windows XP NTBACKUP possible bug:  Loading UNC Path selections don't work

Ok, so here's what I want to do (and it does work in Winodws 2003 Server x86/x64 and Windows XP x64... one in the same?):

Backup my DATA DFS:  \\superfly.local\data with NTBACKUP from pre-saved selections.

And I do it by doing the following:

Open "My Network Places"
Click "Next" (of course)
Select "Choose another network location"
Type in "\\superfly.local\data" without the " "
Leave the name as "DATA on superfly.local"
Finish and let windows open the network place to confrim that I can see it with the current account (which I can)

Next, I run NTBACKUP sans Wizard mode
Goto the "Backup" Tab
[+] on My Network Places
[check] DATA on superfly.local
ALT-J Save Selections as \Desktop\Backup.bks
Start the backup to make 100% sure I can backup that path (it works)
Close NTBACKUP

Now just for the fun of it, I want to backup the same path again. Naturally, I run NTBACKUP, ALT-J, Load Selections \Desktop\Backup.bks and hit the backup button, but this time it tells me that "No files are selected..." (!!!)
This ovbiously causes a major problem when attempting to script this, since the job will fail.
Now, if I open the Backup.bks file in Unicode, it clearly has \\superfly.local\DATA in it.  If I take Backup.bks and load it on a Server 2003(x86/x64) or XPx64, it loads the selections just fine (a long as I have the "network place" already created) and the backup runs as it should.

I've worked around this by mapping drive letters to the UNC path and then backing it up, but this is a real pain when having lost of UNC paths to work with, especially if I'm trying to get away from huge number of drive letters in the first place!  It has been advertised that what I'm trying to do *should* work, but I must be doing something wrong here.
