The counter for unread emails say 224 but there are not that many

To correct and reset the unread email messages count on the hyperlink of Welcome Screen, the most easy way is to use TweakUI PowerToys, which the TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe setup file can be downloaded from Microsoft Download Center. After installing the TweakUI, run the program, and scroll down to select Repair on the left pane. In the dropdown box on the right pane, select Repair Unread Mail Count and click Repair Now button.

Outlook has the ability to hide days, weeks and even months worth of e-mail if you click the - minus sign at the top of the header. This is quite easy to do by accident, and will then hide the e-mails at that level, then display a + plus sign. The count of unread e-mails in the folder won't change.

I was able to give the remote team the url for the Tweat program.  They were able to solve their problem that way. No more complaints.
