Win Movie Maker gives me a green bar bottom 1/2

I want to put a clip onto YouTube. I have a Canon S1IX camera. I'ts movie mode gived HD at 30 frames per second. It outputs a .MOV file. Movie Maker does not use MOV files. I used Pazera Free Movie converter to convert it to an AVI file. I imported the file into Movie Maker, added a title then make the movie. When I play the movie with ANY player the title page shows normally BUT my movie content shows as the bottom 1/2 of the screen as bright GREEN. No pictures, just green. There are SOOOO many codecs and configurations that I don't know if I'll EVER get it uploaded. Any suggestions?

google media player classic and see if it shows up green in it.  if not then your movie is fine.

texrmm91  Thanks for the suggestion. Are you referring to Real Media Player? That is the only thing I can find related to Google. I cannot find one marked "Classic". I DID download Google's Real Media version and it also shows the same green bar on the bottom. I suppose what I really need is the BEST program to convert my movie files in .MOV format to whatever format will be both editable in Movie Maker and able to be uplinked to YouTube. Do you have any further comments or suggestions for me? P.S. I also notice that the movie with the green bar is stretched substantially horizontally.

I have solved my initial problem by using Prism Video Editor. It took the green bar away. However, I still have a problem that I will detail in another question. Thanks for your help. I'll award points.
