Script Error; line 2057; res://ieframe.dll.preview.js

Hi
If I try to print something from the internet, then I get the following error message:

Script Error
An error has occured in the script on this page
Line 2057
Char  1
Error  Unspecified error
Code  0
URL  res://ieframe.dll/preview.js

I am using Win7 Pro 32bit and Internet Explorer 8.
I've tried the suggestions made by BillDL on 13.9.09 6.25 to a similar question, and all the correct boxes are already ticked/unticked.  I've tried various restore points.  And I've tried Ann Flinn's suggestion dated 10.16.2009 attached to a similar question.  But still the same error.

Can anyone help please?

Does it happen with IE or everything else? It is generally not related to you. You can try disabling runtime error messages. The Below article explains what is haapening in detail & the way to disable it.

Thanks, Ravi.  I am not able to print anything within IE at all, and that same message always appears.  I am able to print from other programs, eg Word, Excel, non-Microsoft accounts software, etc, without any problems at all.

I haven't tried to remove the error messages, but presumably it wouldn't make it possible for me to print from within IE, which is what I'm wanting to do.

Thank you both Ravi & COOMET.

Ravi, I've just tried your no ad-ons and regsvr suggestions.  And still the same problem.  I also tried all the easy bits from the support.microsoft link above!  And just the same.

So I've given in and installed Firefox.  I can print fine from that without any problems.

It's annoying not to have been able to solve the initial problem, but the workaround of using Firefox is probably for the best.  People have been trying to convert me for years.  It looks like you two have been successful!

Solution is a workaround
Hi jane,

Please see this link. The Author is facing a similar issue to yours in the below thread. It mentions reinstalling the Windows Scripting Host. Although you got your job done, maybe the below helps to overcome your error.

Good luck,
Ravi.

Hi Ravi

Thank you very much for that link.  Yes, I would still like to try to sort my error, as I still need Internet Explorer for my internet banking, which won't run fully on Firefox.

Unfortunately, I'm not computer-knowledgeable enough to know how to reinstall the Windows Scripting Host.  So I have asked how to do this on the thread that you posted above.

Jane
If you want to run IE for bank sites, install this add-on. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419 It will allow you to white list all pages that will be opened in Firefox using the actual IE engine. Yes the Bank Site will detect your Browser as IE. Simple way after installing it & if you want to open the Bank Site then a Right click Option "Open Link in IE Tab" and thats it. It works for me at least.
