The host is fully patched according to Windows update I run. It shows the edition is Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise....do I still need to install SP2?
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsHere's my setup:
- Windows 2008 Enterprise 64bit Operating System (host)
- I'm running Hyper-V for virtualization
- Windows Vista Ultimate Operating system as the guest OS
I have the guest OS installed & everything is working fine except I can not capture the mouse.. When I click inside the virtual machine I get an error telling me I need to install the integration services but I have already done that & it is still not working. What else do I need to do. The guest OS does not have an IP so I can't remote into it via remote desktop. Any ideas?
Let me add, I'm logged into the host via remote desktop trying to do this. The physical host serevr is in another office.

Sorry didn't realise you were on R2, which SP level is your Vista client at?
See here for integration services compatability list: http://technet.microsoft.c
I have this VM up & working on Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 because I copied it over & just attached the .vhd. After I install SP2 on the guest OS, is it possible for me to install the integration services before I shut it down & copy it to the host that is running hyper-v or do I need to install the integration services after I have it running on the hyper-v server?

The first thing to check is that all systems (host/guest) are upto date with the latest service packs.
