Yes that's correct, The OS in VM is seeing the drive and I get an error insert disk when I click on it.
So how do I get over this proble?

The machine does not recognize the DVD drive, it keeps asking mme to insert the DVD. Could someone help please.

Not sure ... I was thinking VMWare when I read the message, it just clicked in that this is an MS product.
Could be the same thing but not sure what the fix for that would be in this case.
Are you running the latest service packs and patched it?

Check your machine machine and see if there are any prompts or anything that might indicate that the drive is in use.
If the OS in the VM is seeing the drive and you are just getting an error that there is no disk then this makes me think that another OS has the contents of the drive locked so that this VM cannot access it.
