Connecting to Host When Host Isn't Connected to a Network

(I put this in Virtual Sever, but I'm working with Virtual PC).

I have a Virtual PC setup where I have Windows XP running on the host, and Windows XP running as the guest OS. When the host is connected to a network, I can access shared folders on the host using \\hostname\some_shared_folder.

This does not work when the host is not connected to a network.

I need some way to make it so that even when the host is offline, it has an IP address and is connected to the guest OS the same way as when it's online.

Do I need to setup some kind of virtual router?

I can't use the built-in shared folders system (I really need to be able to use the consistence of \\hostname).Start Free Trial
