PC loses internet connectivity after installing Virtual Server

I have installed Virtual Server on 2 different pc's and got the same problem both times....

The host operating system is XP Pro. At first everything was ok for a couple of days. Then a get occasional internet connectivity problems on the host pc. This always happens when I have Internet Explorer open. My Outlook loses connectivity with it's Exchange Server, MSN also loses connectivty. Usually the fix is to simply close Internet Explorer. Immediately I do so, Outlook and MSN reconnect automatically. Occasionally I have to reboot in order to get my connectivity back.

Before I installed Virtual Server, the machine was completely stable. I got exactly the same behaviour on another pc. When it went wrong on that pc, someone suggested that I ran a utility called WinsockFix, but this completely trashed Virtual Server and I had to reinstall it.

Can anyone suggest how I can fix this?
