i fixed it by opening the file with a hex editor and found an EOF character in the middle of the database (1a or something) ... I replaced that character with a space and it works fine now. thanks for checking, though.

Browse All TopicsI have an old dbase III plus database with 120 records. I can scroll down no further than record 46. I've run dbfcheck on it, which identifies an error in line 47. It also claims to have fixed the error. When I try to open up the 'fixed' file, however, I get an error 'this is not a dbase database'. Any ideas?

I thought I had two dBase repair programs, dbtcheck and dbfclean, though at the moment I can only find dbtcheck, written by Erik McBeth. Is that the program you used? What options did you use to run it? Does your database include a memo file?
