Browse All TopicsHi,
I've read plenty of posts about incompatibility of standard OLEDB and ODBC drivers with x64 Windows systems. But due to specific reasons I cannot run my IIS in 32bit mode. Is there any free or commercial ODBC driver which would allow me to read DBF files and would work under 64bit system? Thanks for any help!

Maybe you run your app and IIS under 32bit mode. This is the only way how to fix it but I'm not satisfied with yuch a workaround.
Here are the steps I've made:
1) Download and install Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Visual FoxPro 9.0
2) Driver is visible ony in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad
3) Driver is NOT visible in C:\Windows\System32\odbcad
4) After running my app which is trying to use the driver "Driver not found" error appears.
5) As I mentioned the only way is to run app (and IIS) under 32bit mode.
Yes, all resources and discussions are saying it is impossible to use 32 bit ODBC drivers from 64 bit applications...

One answer even was to connect 32 bit SQL Server from 64 bit IIS and use linked DBF tables on the SQL Server...
It was published somewhere like a (crazy) work around. Install 32 bit SQL Server and define Linked server to a folder containing your DBFs. This linked server uses 32 bit VFP OLE DB provider. Now you may connect from 64 bit IIS to the 32 bit SQL Server via 64 bits SQL driver and access DBF tables via Linked server...
Hey, you saved me! Linked server really seams to be a solution, cause anyway my SQL server runs in 32bit mode. I found more information at http://blog.dbase.integral
