Browse All TopicsHi, So this has been goign round in my head for days now, ideally i'd like to get on the server that contains the orignal database and create a view but thats a no go. So I have an access DB created using OBDC to the orginal DB. It's a project database the clever designers thought it would be good that as user got added to a project thier user id would appended to a char field, this acts as a history of ALL users that have ever been on a particular project. Now we want a report of all users on a project as we cant link this history list of users to the users table. So i'm think it cant be that difficult to split the history list and create a look up table of projID and userID and then link this back to the users table. Well I've drawn a blank. i attach a mock up of the Access DB as well as a basic idea of what i'm looking for as a final layout.

It is not necessary to create new lookup table. You just need to create appropriate JOIN condition between your two tables. Based on your Excel example the INSTR() function seems to be sufficient.
