User query as datasource for combox in VB.net
Zones: .Net Editors & IDEs, Microsoft Visual Basic.Net
Tring to come up to speed with .net . I have  added a datasource to my Windows app project, and am trying to add a query in the datasource. The "Select which returns rows" is grayed out.

Your question is not clear. You want to query a table from your datasource?

If this is your question, your must define an SQL statment that you use when getting the data from the table. For instance:

sSQL = "SELECT * FROM [Concerns] WHERE (Kenn= '" & txtKenn.Text & "')"
da = New OleDb.OleDbDataAdapter(sSQL, con)
ds.Clear()
da.Fill(ds, "Concerns")

You get the data from your datasource into an Data Adapter from table Concerns where the Field Kenn is equal to the textbox txtKenn.

Hope that this is what you want  to do.

In the datasources window I created a tableadapter using a query to get the data (with a parameter). When I go to the form view I can drag from the datasource window onto my control all the table adapters that pull data directly from tables, but my dataadapters that use a query I cannot drag onto the control. How do I use one of these dataadapters?
