Best Barcode Generator for SSRS

Hi All,

Looking for some time tested solutions regarding barcode generation.  I have been using a Code 39 barcode font in my reports, and I am finding that they don't always get read by the barcode readers. I've tested with a number of symbol USB and wireless barcode scanners.

I'd also like to be able to use Code 128 as it requires less of a footprint on the report to generate.  

Any suggestsions?  I was looking at the ID Automation package for SSRS

Hi.

We also use the Code 39 font for our barcoding in documentation, but have only had an issues when either the barcode is not printed big enough or if the printer is not printing decent prints.

Are the barcodes being being scanned from a printed copy of your reports?  Also depends on the range of characters you want to be able to utilise within the barcode value.

If your after more of an image control rather than a font then have you looked at http://www.lesnikowski.com/barcode/ ?  Its supported for use in SSRS.

Simon,

The barcodes are being scanned from a printed version of the report yes.   We really only need the ability for alphanumeric characters, perhaps the font is just not being printed large enough, what font size would you suggest?

We use barcodes as small as size 14, but generally stick with size 18 to guarantee scans.  To be honest it all depends on the quality of your printer!
