nice one cheers, it doesn't explain my predicament, but answers the question perfectly.
Typical Microsoft not to document stuff like this.

Browse All TopicsIs there a way to find information about the virtual log files/pages created in the transaction log file?
the problem i've got is my transaction log file is 7.2Gb in size but it is only using 37% of it.
when i try to truncate it it tells me all the pages are in use.
I'd like to find out the size of all the pages, because i'm guessing it is just 1 big 7.2Gb page because i did get it to shrink from 7.5Gb on Monday.
Don't tell me how to truncate the transaction log, because i know how to do that, i just want to know if i can get info on the virtual pages.
Matt.
