The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Money Money Money

I don't know what data type I should be using for Money.

I want to have money values (ie: 2 decimal places) and I want other fields to be able to do calculations on these fields.

Ie:

Quantity: Money
Rate: Money
Extension: Money Formula (Quantity * Rate)
Tax Rate: Money
Tax: Formula (Quantity * Rate) * (TaxRate / 100)

But the money type seems to allow for 4 decimal places. float more, numeric(9,2) doesn't allow formulas.

So I currently do long calculations using the round( sql statement to get what I want. Surely there must be a simple way to do a normal 2 decimal place money amount with formulas.

The above as an example.

Quantity: 1
Rate: 12.42
Extension = 12.42
Tax Rate: 10.00
Tax: 1.242

Obviously the customer can't pay $12.42 + $1.242 tax
