The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. DB Diagram question

I created a database diagram in EM.  I then proceeded to create more tables after the fact through EM and noticed that every time I'd save a new table or even update a field that it would bring up a dialog asking me if I wanted to save....in addition to the normal save dialog.  So then I coded an ASP form, created a stored procedure that the form would use for it's on submit.  When I tried to save the first record to one of my tables, it I am getting this ASP error:

INSERT statement conflicted with COLUMN FOREIGN KEY constraint 'FK_tbl_Hardware_tbl_HardDriveSize'. The conflict occurred in database 'ERD', table 'tbl_HardDriveSize', column 'HardDriveSizeID'

So, it must be that my diagram is really integrated.  Is there a way that I can create a diagram without it resticting the whole schema?  or is this what the diagram does no matter what?  What should I be doing differently to enable my ASP to work if I have a diagram setup?  Can you setup a diagram that is strictly just a drawing meaning the diagram doesn't actually dictate design?  Or is that how it should be?  I am not very familiar with using diagrams in SQL EM but want to.
