The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

SQL - Sub Selects

First time i have ever had to do a nested select statement using sql and guess what? i have hit a problem. Had a look around to see if i can get any pointers, but not doing very well.. so thought i would ask the experts...

Here goes..

Have a recordset returned with xxxx of records... I want to be able to filter these records down  by finding the partentID of the records, done this, with no problems. Now i want to be able to search the returned recordset that has been filtered, however, hitting one of two problems...

This is my code....

Sql = sql & "SELECT * FROM LiveView1_Page_Data WHERE p_parent_id = 219 OR p_parent_id = 228 OR "
      Sql = sql & "p_parent_id = 236 OR p_parent_id = 220 OR p_parent_id = 229 OR p_parent_id = 237 OR "
      Sql = sql & "p_parent_id = 221 OR p_parent_id = 230 OR p_parent_id = 238 OR p_parent_id = 222 OR "
      Sql = sql & "p_parent_id = 231 OR p_parent_id = 239 OR p_parent_id = 223 OR p_parent_id = 232 OR "
      Sql = sql & "p_parent_id = 240 OR p_parent_id = 224 OR p_parent_id = 233 OR p_parent_id = 241 OR "
      Sql = sql & "p_parent_id = 224 OR p_parent_id = 233 OR p_parent_id = 241 OR p_parent_id = 225 OR "
      Sql = sql & "p_parent_id = 234 OR p_parent_id = 242 OR p_parent_id = 226 OR p_parent_id = 235 OR "
      Sql = sql & "p_parent_id = 243 OR p_parent_id = 227 "
      Sql = sql & "( SELECT * FROM LiveView1_Page_Data WHERE p_title Like '%" & srchVal & "%')"

As you can see, i have all of the parentID records filtered, but i then want to be able to search those results.. So if i type..Paul, the result set will return paul... Any ideas what i am doing wrong here.?

Cheers
