The Solution Rating System

  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. nested loops vs hash join

I'm having a weird performance issue

All of a sudden a query (on huge tables but relatively well performing) starts performing really bad.
it's an exist join between 2 tables, and I've noticed that now the execution plan is using nested loops instead of a hash join.

Is that a reason for performance degradation? Why does the query optimizer start changing the joins if the statistics are still up to date and db usage hasn't changed?
Can I influence it?
