MSDE SQL Server Questions
Hi.
I am about to die of frustration. for the last few days i've been trying to install MSDE 2000 Release A. On the first day i kept having problems with instances - but i overcame this. From then when i try to run the setup i keep getting the "A strong SA password is required for security reasons".
Now i'm notb lazy so i read through all the trouble shooting docs i could find and tried the "setup SAPWD="AStrongPassword" SECURITYMODE=SQL" etc but every time it comes up with "Please go to the control panel to install and configure system components". So i try doing that but it comes up with the same SA password message when i go to install through Add Programs.
Anybody who can fix this for me would be saving my life!!

MSDE is not famed for its ease of use (I guess you get what you pay for!)
Below is an example of an installation code I used previously:
setup.exe INSTANCENAME=MyNewDB SAPWD=simon123 DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0
I am certainly no expert, but give this a try. It seems to work on my system.
